Are you paying too much property tax? 

If you own more than 10 acres of forested land then you could be eligible for a 75% reduction in your property taxes through the Managed Forest Tax Incentive Program. 

 What is involved?

• Determine if you are eligible for the MFTIP program. You can check out the “Eligibility Requirements” by clicking this link to the  MFTIP guide.pdf or you can call me at the contact info.

• Develop a Managed Forest Plan which describes your land and how you will manage it over the next 10 years. 
  • A guide to Stewardship Planning for Natural Areas.pdf  which contains the forms and describes the requirements for the plan. You may complete this plan yourself or have me complete the plan for you.
  • The plan needs to be approved by a certified Managed Forest Plan Approver. 

There are many directions that your plan could take depending on your goals and objectives.  Your plan may want to encourage wildlife to your property by creating suitable habitat or promoting fruit bearing trees like Beech and Black Cherry. You may want to create some trails for recreation, cut firewood or even carrying out a logging operation.  I can help in all areas of developing your plan and give you ideas in achieving your objectives.  

This is a voluntary program and in no way restricts the landowner.  The activities just need to be done in a manner which cares for the land, air, water and sustains the natural processes on which life depends.  

I have been assisting landowners in their Managed Forest Plans since 2005.  I both author and approve plans for this program and would be happy to assist you in developing your plan at a fair price.
